Why go to private?

I know a few of you have asked why I have gone to private and some more may be wondering so I'm going to answer that today. One reason is I put a lot of personal things on here so I want to know who is reading my blog. The only way to do that is to go to private. I probably will never shut anyone out from reading it if they want to e-mail me there e-mail address, but I just want to know who is reading it.

Two, my stat counter is showing that I am getting 40 - 50 unique hits a day and only a few comments. That really doesn't matter too much except I don't know who these IP addresses are and some of them are from near my home. As a mother my job is to protect them so I'm not going to put all this information on here with pictures for someone who lives near by to keep an eye on them. I don't know who they are so I don't know what their intentions are. It may be good, but I'm not taking any chances.

Three, a couple of the keyword searches to get to my blog were a little nasty. I wouldn't mind if they got to my blog stayed for 2 seconds, realized it wasn't what they were looking for and left, but unfortunately that isn't the case. For example, someone googled "girls that eat cream." They stayed for 17 minutes. That is a little disturbing to me. So I just wanted to set it to private. I think I have notified everyone, but if you know someone that isn't invited and would like to be, please let me know.

I will do my weekend recap with lots of pictures tomorrow. Have a great Monday!

I don't think I've ever been to a private blog space before. I feel like Ive gone through the velvet rope. That is really creepy about the ice cream stuff. Ick makes my skin crawl. I dont blame you for going private.

I know a few bloggers who did this, who was getting weird google searches or nasty comments and such.. but thankfully I haven't had any of that yet.. I did get a few weird google searches but they never stayed more then a minute so it wasn't a big deal.

I've thought about doing it too. Do you use Google Analytics? I have mine set up to use that but keep forgetting to put the code in for every post I do.

Let me know what you use. I'd be interested myself for my own blog.

I'm just glad you added me :-)
