A great day

I took a vacation day yesterday to spend some one on one time with each of my kids. The quality time with each one individually has been lacking quite a bit lately and it's something I definitely needed to do. Kissing your kids on your way out the door in the morning and telling them that you love them, then coming home getting dinner, doing homework & baths & bedtime just doesn't seem to be "quality time."

I spent the morning with Taylor and we had a lot of fun. We went to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast and did one more of her book reports while we were there. Then we headed to the mall and Taylor got her "party dress." It's actually a skirt & shirt, but it's cute. I don't know where this child came from, but she informed me at Target she needed a party dress for her birthday party in a month! Taylor has never been a "girly girl." She wears skirts & dresses, but always changes as soon as we are home from church or she gets home from school. Lately she's been more into girly things & I really think it's just the result of Kindergarten so I'm going with it. The highlight of her "party dress" is she found a shirt that says, "and the butterflies fly away, Party in the USA" which is currently one of her fave songs! After the shopping was done we headed to the aquarium in our mall....she loves this thing. We spent 20 minutes there before I had to drag her out so she wouldn't miss the bus.

After putting Taylor on the bus I picked up Callee. We went to Once Upon A Child where the ultimate "girly girl" got a new skirt and shirt. She also got 3 new headbands. Then we headed to McDonald's for lunch. After lunch we picked Bella up from daycare & Taylor up from school. We headed home, ate dinner and then I finished Taylor's book reports & extra packet that was due today.

We enjoyed our evening together, skyped old friends (pseudo grandparents to my children) and then it was bed time. Overall a great day that we all needed and I'm glad I did it. I am back at work today - Friday. Then I work Monday - Thursday next week because I have my knee surgery on Friday. I probably won't ever want to work 5 days again! I am hoping that this knee surgery will provide as much relief as the last time I had it done almost 3 years ago.

I am hoping to blog more regularly from now on, but will make no promises. Life just seems to get in the way sometimes. I'm sure everyone knows that feeling, but I am going to try harder to make room for it, even if it's only a few set days a week!

Sounds like a lovely day.
Glad you could spend some quality time with your girls.

Gregory will be starting Kindergarten next year and I am sure his choice of clothes will probably change too.
