Surprise, Surprise

Sometimes life sends you little surprises that can change your entire attitude. I'm sure that all who are my friend on facebook saw my status when I messed up my huge project and didn't save. Well, I only lost 40 of the 178 I'd done so it could've been a lot worse, but I had been killing myself to get it done. Part was because of a deadline, but the other part was because there was a cash bonus involved that we needed badly. Not to pay bills, but to get new tires on my car and I needed new brakes, but was hoping they'd last a little longer.

So yesterday I got it done and asked my boss to leave my bonus before he went out of town (Saturday - Thursday) so that I could get my new tires this weekend before one blew out. This morning my boss stops in and tells me he ran out of gas and asked to use my car for 2 minutes to fill up his gas can. I gave him the keys and he still wasn't back 40 minutes later. I was getting a little worried and called him to make sure everything was okay and he tells me this long story about how it wasn't out of gas so they had to tow it, but he'd be bringing my car back in about 10 minutes. He came back and gave me my keys and my bonus check (YAY!!!!)

I go to lunch and there is a statement with a note, "Courtney, these are guaranteed for 50,000 miles and they will rotate them for free with this receipt every 5,000 miles. You should do this so they last longer. Thanks for all your hard work and I hope you and Mike can do something fun with the money now."

Well, blow me away...my boss does have a heart and a really big one at that. I haven't been able to blog lately because of the work load and the posts I have done, I really didn't have time to do them. I have been taking work home at night and on the weekends and not getting paid just to meet this deadline. It all seems worth it now and it was so nice to realize my hard work and effort weren't going unnoticed. I appreciated it more than he'll ever know.

I just wanted to share my good news with you all...things should slow down enough that I have time to post. I will be doing a lot of naps this weekend so I probably won't post until Monday so I hope you all have a good weekend.
