A little of everything

The girls went to the doctor on Monday and we found out that Callee does indeed have an ear infection so now she is on antibiotics. If this is a sign for how my winter is going to go, I should start saving now. Taylor has to go get some blood drawn to make sure everything is okay so we'll do that on Saturday morning because she has to fast for it. Both of them also got their flu shots while we were there so hopefully as far as the flu goes we'll have a little less of it this year. Then again, they've gotten flu shots every year, so I guess we'll wait and see.

Did any of you watch Oprah yesterday? Oh my goodness it was so sad. If you didn't watch it, it was about the assistant principal who forgot she was taking her 2 year old daughter to daycare and left her in the hot car all day. She died as a result of it and ashamed as I am to say it, I was one of those judgemental moms who thought this could never happen to me, but as I heard her story yesterday my opinion on it completely changed. She broke her routine, she was never the one to drop her off at the sitter's and did it that morning because her husband had a dentist appointment. She ran some errands and the baby was asleep and she completely forgot to drop her off.

I loved what she said, "I wasn't in the moment, I was trying to get to the moment." I think a lot of mothers live like that especially those that work out of the home. There are so many days that I go on "cruise control" so if my routine was ever broken, this could've happened to me. As sad as it may be, that little girl is teaching a lot of people, myself included, to slow down. Life is not worth rushing around and then waking up when a tragic accident happens.

I commend this mother for being on the show and talking so openly about it and letting her raw emotions show. What a wonderful lesson she taught us all, but how tragic for her and her family to have to go through something like that and I cannot even imagine the guilt this woman lives with everyday.

What are your thoughts or opinions on it? Even if you didn't watch the show I know you have all heard about this tragic story. Did you judge? If you watched the show, did your opinion change at all? If it did change, how?

Happy Thursday to you all.

I didn't see this yet I have it recorded on TiVo, so I'll watch it this weekend.
But I'll just say this from what you have posted. We would all like to think this would never happen to us, but I have learned in life never say never. No one is perfect as much as we like like to think we are. It a horrible thing to happen to a mother and the best thing for other mother to do is not to judge but to be there to support her.

I have heard about this when it happened but I didn't see the show yesterday. I just can't see how it could happen! But it is not my place to judge. This mother will spend the rest of her life knowing what she did. I just pray that others will hear this story and let it be a reminder to them.

I had to take Andrew to the Dr today too. He has a slight ear infection and is taking some antibiotics. I made appointments for flu shots today as well. Time for cold and flu season...YUCK!!

I did not see, but it reminds me that we all need to slowdown. We need to take a minute everyday to STOP or we will end up on a never ending treadmill. I cannot imagine the pain the mother is feeling.

I don't even really know what to think about the mom who left her baby in the car...all I know is that if I did that to my baby, I don't think I would ever be able to forgive myself!!

I had a friend who left her child in her car (in the same cicumstance, because she wasn't the one to have her in the morning typically) and she went into walmart and got halfway done grabbing her items when she realized it. It was not hot, thank goodness, and her sweet Ashlyn Caroline was snoozing on. When that occurred, I knew, it CAN happen to anyone. She's a mom of 4, and a great mom, 100%. It was just freak thing.

shelley,

Thanks for sharing that story and I'm so glad it had such a good outcome. I can't imagine how scared your friend must have been.
