Childish moments

I am going to do a quick recap and then share a very childish moment I had this weekend. I am only sharing this to keep myself accountable and to hopefully bypass the tantrum next time so keep your nasty comments to yourself!

On Friday I visited my grandpa in the nursing home and then took Callee and went grocery shopping. Then after baths we had a little fun time with the girls that included a whole lot of dancing to their favorite CD, "Tumbleweed Gulch." We did this program for Bible School a couple years ago and have used a couple of their songs for other programs at church so we got a copy of the CD and my kids have every song memorized from listening to it over and over again!

Saturday Taylor had her blood drawn and did a great job. She cried when we first went back in the room, but then I got her calmed down and when they stuck the needle in, she didn't even flinch. So of course I had to hold up my end of the deal and take her to McDonald's for breakfast! When we get the results back, hopefully sometime this week, I'll share more about why she needed the blood work, etc. After the blood work we headed over to dance where we met Mike and Callee because it was observation week. She is doing really great in dance this year and I am so proud of the way she has started coming out of her shell and showing her true personality!

Saturday Taylor stayed the night at my parents and Mike hung out there for a couple of hours so I dropped Callee off too and went home with Ashley. We sat around and talked for about 30 minutes and then realized that we had no kids, which doesn't normally happen so we decided to go to the mall. We had a good time and when we got home Mike and Callee had baked us a cake and Mike had Callee all ready bathed. It was definitely very nice.

Sunday we went to church for Mike's baptism, our centennial celebration and Mike also became a member of the church. We stayed for a little lunch afterwards and then Taylor went back to my parents and Callee went down for a much needed nap.

Here are some pictures of the "Hallelujah March" and the baptism.
That is how we spent our weekend.

Now for the embarrassment, on Saturday I yelled at Mike for icing the cake when it wasn't quite cool enough and then on Sunday I wanted to kill him for wearing a belt while being baptized. I guess I was worried he'd ruin it. I just kind of had this "grudge" feeling towards him most of the day on Saturday and Sunday. He had really done nothing wrong so I wasn't sure why I was feeling this way, but I did. When I went to get Taylor from my parents house, my dad said, "Hey, I'll pick the girls up from daycare this week since I'm on day turn." My whole attitude changed after that and I realized it was because I was facing another week in single motherhood. That is why I was being so mean to Mike, almost like I resent him for never being home, even though I understand why he does what he does.

It was a really embarrassing thing to admit and look at myself doing and I guess it's also time to admit that even though it "seems" like I have it all together, it is so much easier to not have to do it alone. Just by my dad picking up the girls this week it will save me 45 minutes - an hour and a half a tank of gas. That takes a lot off my plate and I am so grateful to have a wonderful father who is willing to do this for me! Now if I can just try to stay positive for and towards Mike even though it is hard to do it on my own. Only another year and a half of this! I can do it.

Your weekend sounded like fun all in all. I get that way with my hubby too...snitty over little things and resentful because of his attitude about other stuff. I understand where you are coming from. I hope the bloodwork comes back okay. I'm anxious to hear why she needed it.

Big hugs!

Well, it sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. I've yelled at my hubby for using a whole paper towel instead of half! So don't feel bad! (:

You are human, chick. At least you are honest with yourself. It is hard to do that. :)
