No Answers Yet

Okay, so I don't have any more answers yet, but here's what's going on. A little background first. I have been getting really bad headaches since I was in that car accident two years ago. In the last six months I have been getting the headaches 3 and 4 times a week and they have been getting worse and worse so I decided to tell the doctor. We discussed everything and decided to hold off on a cat scan and just try a migraine medicine for the meantime and then I was to go back in a month to discuss if it was working or not.

Tuesday night (7-8) I got a headache around 9:30. I was on the phone with my mom until about 10:00 when the headache got really bad so I took my migraine medicine that was prescribed to me about a month ago and went to bed. I had a lot of trouble sleeping (which has never happened) and I was in a lot of pain. About 2 a.m. I decided to try to take another pill. When I got out of bed it felt like someone was playing pinball with my brain and I ran into the wall. I woke Mike up to get my medicine and it still didn't dull the pain at all. By 4:00 I started to think that maybe it was an aneurysm because nothing I did helped at all. When I laid down I kept seeing strobe lights. I called my mom about 4:10 and asked her to take me to the hospital or to call an ambulance. Mike had school in the morning and had all ready been up with me on and off all night. My mom still wasn't working so I thought she'd probably be the best option.

She took me to the hospital and I was very dizzy and could hardly hold my balance. They got me right back to a room and started an IV drip with antibiotics, Demerol (sp?) and Phenergan for nausea. I was taken back to cat scan and the doctor came back and said my sinus' were 4 times their normal size and that it was a sinus infection. My reply was "THIS is a sinus infection?" The Demerol helped me sleep through the pain, but every time I was woken up the pinball game was still going on. I have been on antibiotics and percocet for the pain since and have had a headache since that night. This morning was the first morning I woke up and barely noticed the headache although it is still there.

Yesterday when I went to the doctor he told me that he does not think it was a sinus infection, but a migraine that caused my sinus' to swell. I requested an MRI because I'm not convinced either way. I have to wait and see if my insurance will pay for it and then hopefully get it done soon. I refuse to be one of those people that goes to bed one night with a headache and not wake up in the morning. I have horror stories coming in from every angle and one of my best friends had a coworker die this weekend after getting massive headaches and she was scheduled for some final tests today. She had a stroke apparently after having 3 complete blockages in her brain.

I just want to feel some peace about this. It is not easy working full time out of the home and raising a 2 and 4 year old in this kind of pain. I just want to get on something that will work if it is migraines and if it's not I want to find out what it is. I'll keep you all updated as I go, but if you pray, please say a prayer for me until I get some kind of answers.

Also, I have a prayer request that I can't put here yet because of people that read my blog and it's not my story to tell. Just pray that everything turns out ok. And, my mom and my brother both found jobs. My mom starts today and I'm not sure when my brother starts. Josh if you're reading today maybe you can comment about this?

Aww, I hope your headaches get better REALLY soon and that they can find out what the problem is...it must be tough trying to do all the things you need to do as a mom of 2 with bad headaches...but it still sounds like you're doing a great job with your girls! I'll be thinking of you...

Oh, Courtney - I'm so sorry you are in such pain. Another blog I read (can't remember now who) has been also having the same situation - car wreck and now headaches and they found this week that she had bone spurs on her spin that chipped off or something and were pressing on nerves - causing the headaches. I hope they figure out soon what is going on with you! Take care - Kellan
