I need to explain

After re-reading that post and then seeing all the supportive comments I think I should explain a little better. I should have done this in the previous post, but I ran out of time and I didn't think it was that pertinent.

I am an extremely sarcastic person. Most people don't like me when they first meet me because they have no idea how to take me. I'm okay with that and I usually end up winning most people over after they have figured me out. The reason I say I don't know whether to laugh or discipline is because I don't know if they are serious or being sarcastic. Taylor has a lot of my personality only she is a little less spastic (like her dad.) I am at the point where I am trying to fill her out because I do not want to stifle her personality. Nobody walks all over me and if my little girl is going to be the same way then I don't want to crush that.

As far as Callee's eye rolling, right now she does it to be silly and make you laugh. I am trying to teach her that she does not do that to adults or when she is in trouble, but it is quite the silly sight to see.

I did not want to come across that I just let my kids be out of control, but I can see how it came across like that. My girls do fight constantly, from the time I pick them up from daycare and we get in the car until the time they go to bed at night. They do not have the respect and obedience they once had (well Taylor anyway) and last night we sat down and went over the expectations. Today I will type out these rules, even though they can't read and post them in a few different rooms.

So for anyone who thought my kids were "those kids," they're not. I appreciate all the nice and supportive comments from everyone because I visit blogs who get the mean and hateful commenter's visiting them. I am glad that I did not have to delete any comments or feel like I was being attacked so thank you.

I hope everyone has a good hump day.

I love this post.. We all are sarcastic arond here also..all in good fun.. and my kids have all picked that up also.. So to see them being a little sarcastic when they were younger always made me LOL.. As they grow and you train them then they will learn how to use that in a fun way and also learn when it is not ok to use it.. and when it is OK to speak to mommy and daddy and other adults in a fun joking around way and when it is not and it just is rude. I know there are some people out there who thinks it is never ok for kids to be sarcastic and joke around with people, but I always figure them to just be old sticks in the mud and over look what they may think LOL...
I think you have the right idea of not wanting to crush them.. and letting the personality that God gave them come though.. so with guidance and age I'm your girls will be just fine and you have nothing to worry about :)

I don't think your post came across that way at all. I think you were just sharing your "kids being kids" moments. We are working hard in our house trying to find the balance between sarcasm and respect. Noah is learning to figure out when it is silliness and when it is not. I feel that you were stressed when you wrote this post. No stress, you're kinds are NOT "those kids". "Those kids" are the ones whose parents don't realize that they they are.

I've always gotten the impression that you are a great mom and have great kids! I saw on Dawn's site yesterday, where she is beginning to use these jars and she rewards her children by putting a poker chip in the jar and she punishes them, I think, by taking one away. Then, the kids can buy things with the chips (TV time, computer time - whatever). It's a great idea - I'm thinking about using it with Alexis and Billy.

Take care - Kellan

There has been a lot of negative stuff in comments lately around the blogworld. But you didn't say anything to get that. :o)

Maybe you just need to explain when she can and can't be sarcastic with you.

Great post...I read your last one too...and I didn't really see any problem with it. But I do agree that you can't let them get away with much...because sometimes you give an inch and they'll take a mile...and that I know happens with my own kids too. :)

You and I would get along great. I am probably just as sarcastic as you are ;-)

I definitely know you do not have "those" kids, because they live at my house PT. LOL

Big hugs!

I think your kids sound cute as can be. I hope I didn't sound negative in my comment. I remember the fighting though. First my siblings and myself and then my girls. The good news is, my daughters are dear friends now, 500 miles apart but good friends.

I didn't think you needed to explain yourself.
