Our weekend - 5/12/08

This weekend was filled with a bunch of necessary stuff that left us without a weekend. When my alarm went off this morning I almost shut it off because I thought it was Sunday!

Friday Taylor had her dance recital practice with the whole dance studio (they worked on the finale.) After that, we met two of her friends from dance class at the dairy queen and had ice cream before heading home. By the time we got home it was bed time.

Saturday morning we got up and Taylor had dance; Mike stayed home with Callee for some daddy-daughter time. After dance we went home and ate lunch and then laid the girls down for a nap. Mike went lawnmower shopping (someone stole ours out of our garage last week) while the girls napped, to no avail! After the girls got up we went shopping for a new refrigerator and lawn mower (we found both.) We stopped by Mike's dads house to pick up some paperwork we needed and stayed longer than I would have liked. After we left there we dropped the girls off at a friends house while Mike and I went shopping and spent WAY too much money! We picked them up and headed to my parents house to drop Taylor off to spend the night. I went home and began watching my mother's day present while Mike did homework after I put Callee to bed. I got P.S. I Love You while we were at Sam's. Callee woke up at 10:45 from coughing and at about 12:30 we put her in our bed with us so she'd finally go back to sleep.

Sunday we got up and went to church. After I dropped the girls off at home and got them laid down for a nap I went and visited my grandparents for a little while. When I got home it was time to wake the girls up (they were super tired) and get them ready to take Mike's mom to dinner. After dinner Mike went home to finish homework and the girls and I went to visit my mom. After we left there we went home, got ready for bed, read books and said prayers and the girls went off to bed.

Mike didn't go to church with us because he had stuff he wanted to get done around the house. His first project was to put a handle with a lock on the garage to prevent any further thefts. The problem is that he put it on upside down and now we can't get in the garage. He says he can probably just cut the lock off, but if that doesn't work, he says he'll just take the door off. Ummm, second option is a very loud NO!!! What should have been an $8 project could now cost us hundreds. I don't think so. Anybody have a handy husband that might have some suggestions for us? I'd greatly appreciate the advice.

This post wouldn't be a good one without a cute story. This morning as Callee was waiting for me to open the door for her she kept saying wet. I couldn't figure out what she was talking about so I told her I just changed her diaper and there was no way she was wet. When we walked out onto the porch she said, "Mommy! Wet, it rains!" It was a very rainy day, but I'm not sure how she knew that while we were in the house with the blinds drawn. Her vocabulary is really exploding and I am having mixed emotions about it. I love that she can finally communicate without screams and tears, but it means she is growing up and I'm not ready for my baby to grow up.

I hope everyone has a great week. It is going to be a very busy one for me because I have a few meetings so I may not be able to post daily.

I need a nap.

Some people are so low to steal a lawnmower. That happened to me with my reel mower. I had taken a water break, which turned into a short nap. When I came back out it was gone.

Sometimes I forget how hectic and busy life was with 2 little girls. You help me remember! Your daughters are precious.
