Introducing Isabella Grace

Well Lacey finally had her yesterday @ 5:59 p.m. She weighed 8 lbs. 6 oz. & was 19 1/2 inches long. She has a double chin, rolls in her arms & legs, and the chubbiest little cheeks. Her cheeks are so fat you can barely tell she has eyes...lol.
So Lacey was having contractions on Friday when she went to the doctor so her doctor told her to go eat Taco Bell because they weren't dilating her & weren't consistent. She did & the contractions continued until Saturday afternoon around 2 when they decided to go to the hospital. She still wasn't dilated so they hooked her up to pitocin to make them more intense & try to get them more regular.

After 11 hours of that they stopped the Pitocin (this was at 6 a.m. on Sunday morning.) At 10 a.m. the doctor came in to try these pills you put into the cervix to dilate it. Her contractions definitely got more intense. She had 3 straight hours of hard contractions lasting 1 1/2 - 2 minutes & they were 45 seconds apart. The whole time Lacey was a trooper & we kept telling her that these ones had to be dilating her. The nurse came in to check her (at 4:20) thinking the same thing we were & announced Lacey was only 1/2 centimeter dilated. Lacey began crying because really 3 days of labor to be a 1/2 centimeter? Good Lord it could've taken a month to get her to 10. She tells the nurse she just wants it to be over & right then her doctor called. The nurse comes back after talking to the doctor & says the doctor said you could keep going or she will do a c-section, it's up to you. Lacey opted for the c-section. As soon as Lacey said to just do the c-section, the nurse smiles & said, "I think you just made the best decision you could have."

So at 5:59 p.m. on March 15, 2009 we welcomed Isabella Grace Showalter into the world with all of her chubbiness. I am hoping to get better pictures of her fatness tonight, but here are a few.Lacey happy after they informed her she'd have a c-section.

Janice it's funny. Last night Taylor was saying how much she loves Bella, etc. Then she started telling me why & one of the top on the list was because she smells so good! I loved it!
