A short post

I feel pretty crappy today, but wanted to jot down a story about Callee from last night before I forget it. You do realize that's why I have this blog, right? Well if not, maybe that will be a post for next week, why I blog.

Before I go on with the story, I just wanted to say that Lacey's shower turned out really great. Saturday morning before the shower went smoother than I ever imagined it could. We had a lot of fun, she got a lot of gifts & I am glad it is over now. She is due on March 10, we'll see how long she lasts.

So here is my Callee story, I hope to tell her about this someday. My kids have been obsessed with death since "Peaches" passed away in November. Taylor is constantly asking when me, Mike, my mom, my dad, her, Callee and anyone else she can think of is going to die. Callee has heard all of these questions & is now asking a ton of her own questions & through imagination play is coming up with crazy death scenarios...

So last night Taylor had Caravan and at the end, all of the classes meet in the Sanctuary for their pledges & prayers & Aunt Shelley (the leader) always asks for prayer requests. Callee raises her hand & says her prayer request..."my husband died." Of course I laughed when I heard it because it is not what I had expected. I thought she had requested prayer for her dad because she told my aunt when we got there that he has pink eye (which he does not have!) So, aunt Shelley says "Your husband?" And Callee in all seriousness (she is a very serious child) says, "Yes, he died." Okay then. I think this has gone on long enough. I could tell you about how Callee wants Jesus out of her heart and a million other examples of the obsession with death, but I'll spare you. Any ideas on death and a 2 year old?

I hope you all have a good weekend!

Oh My, that is one loaded question. We thought we were going to lose Pumpkin last week and were worried about the same thing. The story is cute, but you're right, you need to figure out a way to talk to he about it. Have you tried getting some books out of the library and reading them with her?

I agree with Kristi, that is a tough one, books are a great idea.

Amazing what sticks in their heads. I actually had the same problem with Evan when I got back from OH. I had no idea what to tell him either. I told him alot of what you have told your girls, he just eventually stopped, but with your girls, they are still living it daily. I will have to try to look for a book that I have about questions kids ask about God and life...if I do, I will let you know.

My kids get hung up on death sometimes too..especially after our dog died. We did get a few books from the library and my daughter has named a cloud after our dog. Not quite the same thing as when your Peaches died but maybe give her something that makes her feel that Peaches is still part of her life? Did he have anything she could have? A blanket, a tie, a handkerchief? Just something she can keep close?

You know it is hard to imagine all what goes through their heads.

Gregory lately has been asking about kill. I don't think he quite understands when a creature dies on TV that they are not waking up.

you know Jackson talked about dying a lot about 6 months ago and it passed I think they just need to get it out of their system.
